「寒い朝」

　今朝は雪景色のスタートになりました。雪が積もったのは今シーズン初じゃないかな？

　皆さんご存知のように、雪のように白いものを撮るときは露出をプラスに補正します。デジタルの世界では、まっ黒を０から、まっ白が２５５という値で明るさを現します。カメラの露出計は、撮像素子上のいくつかの点でこの明るさを測りすべての測定点の明るさの値の平均が１１９になるように露出を決めています。明るさ１１９というのは１８％グレーと呼ばれ、黒と白の丁度中間の明るさの灰色です。

　雪の明るさが例えば２００くらいだとすると、これが１１９になるようにカメラは露出を決めてしまいます。つまり、白が灰色に写るということです。そこで、露出補正をプラスにするのですが、それは平均値が１１９ではなく２００になるように露出を決める、ということです。露出補正をいくつプラスにすると平均値をいくつに上げるのか、というのはちゃんと理屈があるのですが、難しいことは置いといて、デジタルの時代、撮影した画像はその場ですぐ確認できますから、雪が灰色になっていたら露出補正をプラスにしましょう。プラス値をいくつにするかは撮って見て好みの雪の色になるようにすればいいのです。

    As you all know, when shooting something white like snow, the exposure is corrected to a positive value. In the digital world, the brightness is expressed by a value of 0 for pure black and 255 for pure white. The exposure meter of the camera measures this brightness at several points on the image sensor and determines the exposure so that the average of the brightness values ​​of all the measurement points is 119. Brightness 119 is called 18% gray, which is a gray color that is just between black and white.

    If the brightness of the snow is about 200, for example, the camera will determine the exposure so that it will be 119. In other words, white appears gray. Therefore, we make the exposure compensation positive. It means that the exposure is decided so that the average value is 200 instead of 119. There is a good reason to decide how many positive exposure compensations should be used to raise the average value. Aside from the difficult things, in the digital age, you can check the captured image on the spot, so if the snow is gray, add exposure compensation. 

You can decide how many positive values ​​you want by taking a picture and making it the color of the snow you like.
