今日は夜明け前から雲ひとつない晴天となり、絶好の氷マクロ撮影日和となりました。

偏光シートを日差し側に置き、その影でまずは自然にできた氷を使っての撮影。

朝方とはいえ日光を直接浴びると温度があがり２０分程で融けてしまいました。

フリーザーで作った氷を取り出して撮影を継続。

１時間ほど氷撮影を楽しみました。

偏光シートを置いた場合、発色のメカニズムが異なるのかあまり氷とのアングルに気を使う必要はないようです。

また、肉眼でも発色が確認できるので、それからカメラを向けることもできます。

ただし、PLフィルターの偏光角にはセンシティブなのでこまめにフィルターの回転角度を調整する必要があります。

三脚にカメラを固定したほうがフィルターの調整がやりやすいので、多少面倒でも三脚を使うことをお勧めします。

多深度合成のための撮影にも三脚は有効です。

Today, the sky was clear and cloudless from before dawn, making it a perfect day for ice macro photography.

I placed the polarizing sheet on the sunny side and started photographing the naturally formed ice in its shadow.

Even though it was early in the morning, the direct exposure to sunlight caused the temperature to rise and the ice melted in about 20 minutes.

I took out the ice from the freezer and continued photographing.

I enjoyed shooting ice for about an hour.

With the polarizing sheet in place, I didn't have to pay much attention to the angle between the ice and the polarizing sheet, probably because the mechanism of coloration is different.

Also, you can see the coloration with the naked eye, so you can point your camera at it.

However, the PL filter is sensitive to the angle of polarization, so you will need to adjust the rotation angle of the filter frequently.

I recommend using a tripod, even if it is a bit cumbersome, because it is easier to adjust the filter when the camera is fixed on a tripod.

A tripod is also useful when shooting for multi-depth compositing.
