少し日陰になっている場所に咲いていた青いアサガオ。

花の底の部分にピントを合わせると背景の緑の中にシャープな青い曲線が現れました。

背景の緑には日があたっているので明るい緑、アサガオの青は露出をマイナス補正しているので紺に近い深い青に。

アサガオの花がちょうど対角線上に来るよにフレーミングし、緊張感を演出しました。

When I focused on the bottom of the flower, a sharp blue curve appeared in the background green.

The background green is bright green because of the sunlight, and the blue of the morning glory is a deep blue, almost dark blue, because of the negative exposure compensation.

I framed the shot so that the morning glory flowers were just on the diagonal, creating a sense of tension.

暑いので涼し気な一枚をアップ。

白いグラジオラスです。

色温度を下げて涼しげにしました。

白を表現するときは露出をプラス補正します。

これは、カメラが写真全体が薄い灰色になるように露出を調整することに起因しています。

露出を補正しないまま白色を撮ると灰色に写るということです。

逆に、黒色の場合は露出をマイナス補正します。

やはり露出を補正しないまま撮ると灰色に写ってしまいます。

白以外にも明るい色、黄色とか水色などを撮るときもプラス補正します。

赤色や紺などの暗い色の場合はマイナス補正するとらしい色になります。

This is due to the fact that the camera adjusts the exposure so that the entire photo is a light gray.

When shooting bright colors other than white, such as yellow and light blue, use positive exposure compensation.

For dark colors such as red or navy blue, minus exposure compensation will produce a typical color.

アサガオが朝の日差しを浴びて輝いているとついつい撮りたくなります。

花弁についた白い小さな粒はアサガオの花粉だと思われ、良いアクセントです。

ネモフィラなどもそうですが、青い花はマイナス補正してもいいし、逆に、プラスに補正しても綺麗な色を見せてくれます。

今回はプラスに補正してふんわりとした雰囲気を表現してみました。

丸暈けはメリハリが欲しくてRAW現像時に少し誇張しました。

自然生えしたひまわりは花も終わり葉も枯れてきました。

夏はまだこれからですからやはりちょっと早いですね。

その枯れかけた葉がちょっと面白い造形を醸し出してきたのでカメラを向けました。

ファインダーの中で白く光るものがチラチラしていて、なんとなく夜の海を照らす灯台のように見えたので、それを主題にフレーミングを決めました。

風に揺れる葉。

ピントは下手な鉄砲方式です。

I saw a glimmering white object in my viewfinder that looked somewhat like a lighthouse illuminating the sea at night, so I framed the shot with that as my subject.

- A Sudden Visitor -

霧雨に濡れたムラサキツユクサを撮影していたら、突然ハナアブの訪問を受けました。

1cmにも満たない小さなアブです。これが蝶だと大きくなりすぎてちょっとグロテスクな写真になってしまいます。

敵は不意にファインダーに飛び込んで来ますから、ピントはそのままひたすら連写。

ハナアブが写っていたのは４枚ほど。

連写スピードは一秒間に１０枚程度ですから、数百ミリ秒の世界ですね。

運良くアブの眼にピントが合った一枚がありました。

RAW現像時に４：３にクロップしました。

I was photographing the Murasaki tsuyukusa in the drizzling rain when I was suddenly visited by a leafhopper.

It is a small fly, less than 1 cm in length. If it were a butterfly, it would have grown too large and made the picture a little grotesque.

The enemy jumped into the viewfinder unexpectedly, so I just kept the focus and took a series of pictures.

I took about four pictures of the buzzards.

The continuous shooting speed is about 10 shots per second, so it is a world of several hundred milliseconds.

Luckily, there was one shot in which the eye of the flycatcher was in focus.

I cropped the image to 4:3 during RAW development.

三脚を使って室内での撮影。

中間リングを使うのには光が少なすぎましたが、ちょっと強引に。

テンニンギクの色鮮やかな花も魅力的でしたが、そのがくも面白い形をしていたのでそちらを主題に花はぼかしてぽ〜と灯る灯りを表現してみました。

朝から暑いです。

ギラギラ太陽の日を浴びてアサガオもちょっとしんどそう。

青いアサガオの花びらに多分アサガオの花粉だと思われる白い粒がひとつ乗っていました。

露出はマイナス補正して夜の雰囲気を、花粉のまわりを少し明度を上げて落ちてきた星屑みたいに仕上げてみました。

The morning glories are looking a little tired under the glaring sun.

I found a single white grain, probably morning glory pollen, on the petals of a blue morning glory.

I used a negative exposure compensation to create a nighttime atmosphere, and increased the brightness around the pollen a little to make it look like falling star dust.

暑い名古屋に戻ってきました。

今日の作品は昨日と同じサザンカですが、花ではなく葉の方です。

サザンカは椿と同様に油分の多いツヤツヤした葉を持っています。

特に冬は油分が多く、太陽の光を強く反射します。

また、葉には独特の棘があり、この棘が葉の表面とは異なる方向に光を反射することで作品のように光る点が現れます。

Today's work is the same sasanqua as yesterday, but with leaves instead of flowers.

Like camellias, sasanquas have glossy, oily leaves.

Especially in winter, they are oily and reflect the sun's rays strongly.

The leaves also have unique thorns, which reflect light in a different direction from the surface of the leaf, causing shiny spots to appear on the leaf like artwork.

観葉植物が２日続いたので今日はサザンカの花を取り上げます。

冬のよく晴れた日に小さな木漏れ日がサザンカの花の一部に降り注いでいるところをクローズアップ。

露出をアンダーにすると木漏れ日が当たっているところ以外は暗く落ち、サザンカの花の曲線が妖しく浮かび上がりました。

マクロ撮影の場合、局所的に強い光があるため、平均測光ではその部分が露出オーバー、白飛びや色飛びが起きてしまいがちです。

そこで、露出モードはハイライト優先で撮ることが多いです。

この作品もハイライト優先で撮りました。

ハイライト部分が適正露出になるように露出が決められるので白飛びが起きにくいです。

その代わりシャドウ部分は暗くなるので、暗くなりすぎた場合はRAW現像時に補正を行う必要があります。

After two days of houseplants, today I will focus on sasanqua flowers.

This is a close-up of a sasanqua flower on a sunny winter day, with a small patch of sunlight shining through the trees.

When I underexposed the image, all the areas except for the sun shining through the trees were darkened, and the curves of the sasanqua flowers came to life in a mysterious way.

In macro photography, because there is strong localized light, average metering tends to overexpose that area, resulting in white-outs and color jumps.

Therefore, I often use highlight priority as the exposure mode.

This piece was also shot in highlight priority.

The exposure is set so that the highlights are correctly exposed, so white skips are less likely to occur.

If the shadows are too dark, it is necessary to compensate for this during RAW development.

今日は十日町にある美術館を中心に見てきました。

美術館といっても廃校の校舎全体がアート作品になっていたりして興味深いものでした。

さて、今日の作品はアイチアカと呼ばれる観葉植物で、葉全体が赤いのが特徴です。

近くの緑地公園にある温室で栽培されているもので、その葉に日が差し込み、日が当たっている部分と影になっている部分とを撮ったものです。

赤と黒のコントラストが綺麗な一枚になりました。

Today I visited mainly museums in Tokamachi.

Even though it is called an art museum, it was interesting to see an entire abandoned school building turned into a work of art.

Now, today's artwork is an ornamental plant called aichiaca, which is characterized by its red leaves.

It is grown in a greenhouse in a nearby green park. The sun shone on its leaves, and I took this photo of the part in the sun and the part in the shadow.

The contrast between the red and the black makes for a beautiful picture.

今日から４日間の予定で大地の芸術祭を見に新潟に来ています。

十日町、津南町に３００もの作品が点在しています。

ということで、芸術祭にちなんで、というわけではないですが、今年の１１月に行う写真展からいくつか作品をご紹介したいと思います。

最初に紹介するのは案内のはがきに採用した作品です。

ユッカという観葉植物の葉の端に日が当たっていて、そこにピントを合わせたものです。

露出をマイナスに補正したので日が当たっているところ以外は暗く落ちてそこだけが浮かび上がりました。

前後の葉を暈かして入れることで遠近を表現できました。

I am in Niigata for four days starting today to see the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale.

As many as 300 works of art are scattered in Tokamachi and Tsunan Town.

So, not necessarily in connection with the festival, I would like to introduce some of the works from the photo exhibition that will be held this November.

The first one is the one used for the postcard of the exhibition.

The sun was shining on the edge of the leaf of a yucca plant, and I focused on it.

I corrected the exposure to a negative value, so the rest of the image fell dark except for the sunlit area, and only that area came into focus.

The perspective was expressed by adding the leaves in the foreground and background.

雨のない朝は久しぶりです。

日差しが強い時は逆光側から撮ると花びらが透けて綺麗な色に撮れます。

アサガオは花びらが薄いので強い日差しが適しています。

薔薇のように肉厚の花びらを持つ花は光が透けず、影が強く花に落ちてしまうので不向きです。

２つ重なって咲いているアサガオの花をやや斜め後ろから狙って見ました。

光を受けている部分と透けている部分との質感の差が面白い画になりました。

This is a shot of two overlapping morning glories blooming from slightly behind.

The difference in texture between the part that receives light and the part that is transparent made for an interesting image.

- Tears of Summer -

雨が続くとお題に困ります。

ひまわりの花弁の間に雫が残っていたので、それを主題に一枚。

黄色を出すために露出はプラスに補正、ISOを800まで上げて何とかシャッタースピード1/1000秒を確保しました。

S社のセンサーは感度がよくISO800くらいまではノイズが気になりません。

ISO1600でも使用に耐えますが、ISO800のまま露出を一段マイナス補正し、RAW現像で補正を戻して使うことが多いです。

そのほうがノイズが少ないように感じますが、気のせいかもしれません。

いづれにしても曇天雨模様の暗い状態でもマクロ撮影できるのは有り難いことです。

When it keeps raining, I am at a loss for a subject.

There was a drop of water left between the petals of the sunflower, so I took a shot with that as my subject.

I corrected the exposure to a positive value to bring out the yellow color and raised the ISO to 800, and managed to secure a shutter speed of 1/1000 second.

The S company's sensor has good sensitivity, and noise is not an issue up to ISO 800.

It can be used at ISO 1600, but I often use it at ISO 800 with one step of negative exposure compensation, and then return the compensation in the RAW development process.

I feel that there is less noise that way, but it may just be my imagination.

In any case, I appreciate the ability to take macro shots even in dark, cloudy, rainy conditions.

やらかしました。

交換レンズを２本持ちカメラバッグを背負って、今日はちょっと遠出したのですが、現地に着いたら電池が。。。

電池残量が１０％ちょっとだったので、昨夜電池を外して充電しておいたのです。

メモリカードならコンビニでも手に入りますが、電池では＞＜

フィルムの時代では電池なしでもシャッターが切れるカメラがあったのですが、便利になったのか不便になったのか。

ということで、先日撮ったヒマワリが今日のお題です。

露出をプラス補正し、色温度を下げて朝の光を表現してみました。

I tried to express the morning light by positively compensating the exposure and lowering the color temperature.

今日のお題はムラサキツユクサです。

くもり空で光量が足らず中間リングが使えないため、超クローズアップはお預け。

引いたフレーミングで画作りしました。

天使の梯子とは雲の間から差し込む光芒のことを言います。

マクロの世界では無縁ですが、柔らかい光の中でムラサキツユクサの花だけ輝いて見えたので周囲の丸暈け（水滴）の配置を工夫してそれを表現してみました。

花が輝いて見えるのは、花に比べ葉の色が濃い（＝光の反射率が低い）ことに起因すると思われます。

Today's subject is purple daylily.

The sky was cloudy and there was not enough light to use the intermediate ring, so super close-ups were not available.

I used a pulled-back framing technique.

The angel's ladder refers to the glow of light coming through the clouds.

In the macro world, it is uncommon, but in the soft light, only the flowers of the spider lily seemed to shine, so I tried to express this by arranging the surrounding round vignetting (water droplets).

The reason why the flower appears to shine is probably due to the darker color of the leaves compared to the flower (i.e., lower light reflectance).

グラジオラスが黄色の花を咲かせました。

グラジオラスには春咲きのものと夏咲きのものと２種類あるようです。

多分この花は夏咲きかな？

雨の雫が残っていたのを利用して、やや官能的に仕上げてみました。

黄色を出すためにプラスに補正しました。

露出が足りないと黄色は茶色になってしまいます。

また、色温度を低くするとレモンの黄色に、高くするとオレンジ色に近い黄色になります。

この作品では花芯の赤を活かすために逆に色温度を下げました。

あまり生々しくならないように周辺はかすみをかけてソフトフォーカスにしてあります。

Gladiolus has bloomed yellow flowers.

Maybe this flower is a summer bloomer, isn't it?

I took advantage of the remaining drops of rain to create a somewhat sensual effect.

To bring out the yellow color, I corrected the exposure to a positive value.

If the exposure is not enough, the yellow will turn brown.

Lowering the color temperature produces a lemon yellow color, while raising it produces a more orange-yellow color.

In this case, I lowered the color temperature to bring out the red of the flower's core.

To avoid making the image too vivid, I used a soft focus with a hint of haze around the edges.

今朝は小鳥の綺麗なさえずりから始まりました。

ちょっと聞き慣れない綺麗な声でした。

そう言えば最近カラスの声を聞かなくなりました。

数年前は大挙してやってきて、ギャーギャー鳴きながらゴミを漁って大変でした。

カラス対策が進んで都会に住むカラスの数が減ってきている、との話を聞いたことがあります。

天敵のカラスがいなくなったので小鳥がやって来るようになったのかもしれません。

天気の方は小鳥のさえずりとは異なり、時折雨が降ってくるどんよりとした天気。

光が少ないので明るい方の９０mmに中間リングを入れないで今日の撮影を開始。

朝方降った土砂降りにアサガオの花は全滅、元気なのはヒマワリくらい。

真ん中を狙って一枚まとめてみました。

曇っているとはいえ、逆光側から撮ったほうが花びらが透けて綺麗な色になります。

シャッタースピードを稼ぐためにマイナス補正し、RAW現像で戻してます。

I started today's shooting without the intermediate ring on the brighter 90mm because of the low light.

The morning downpour had wiped out all the morning glory flowers, and the only healthy ones were the sunflowers.

I put one shot together, aiming for the center.

Even though it was cloudy, taking a picture from the backlit side would allow the petals to show through and give a beautiful color.

To increase the shutter speed, I used a negative correction and restored it in the RAW development process.

- Sunrise on the Blue Star -

今日は午前中所要があり、お昼すぎの撮影になりました。

まだ、青いアサガオが咲いていたので一枚。

いつも１０時くらいにはしぼんでしまうアサガオの花ですが、ちょっと寝坊したのかも。

余談になりますが、アサガオを夜更かしさせる（夜遅くまで光をあてる）と、朝寝坊する（開花が遅れる）らしいです。

曇り空から柔らかい光があたっていたので、露出をプラスに補正して淡い青を表現してみました。

白く淡く光るのはアサガオの蕊です。

ピントはアサガオの花の局面の最上部に合わせて、シャープな輪郭を得ました。

Morning glories usually wilt by around 10:00 p.m., but this one may have overslept.

As a side note, it is said that if you let the morning glories stay up late at night, they will oversleep in the morning (delay blooming).

Since there was soft light from the cloudy sky, I corrected the exposure to a positive value to express a pale blue color.

The white, pale glow is the stamen of the morning glory.

I focused on the top of the flower phase of the morning glory to get a sharp outline.

今日は朝から強い日差しが差し込み暑い一日に。

昨日の最高気温は２８℃、今日は＋５℃の真夏日。

こういうジェットコースターのような気候は体に堪えます。

さて、この強い日差しを利用して、ひまわりの大きな葉をモチーフに大きな波を表現してみました。

色温度は緑一色になるのを避けるため低く調整しています。

また、コントラストを上げてメリハリもつけました。

朝から雷が轟く一日、止み間を狙って庭にでました。

大きなひまわりの葉に雨水が溜まっていたので近づいて一枚。

風で揺れてなかなかピント合わせもままならないですが、葉の揺れに合わせて水面の表情も変化するので思わぬ写真が撮れたりします。

マクロならではの楽しみです。

なお、コントラスト、色温度はRAW現像時に調整しました。

背景にある車のボディが強く日差しを反射していたので、それを利用して大きな丸ボケを花の後ろに作ってみました。

花はガーベラです。

夏にふさわしく派手な色の花ですが、花弁が厚く光が透けにくいのですが、

強い反射光と日差しを利用し、露出はプラスに補正して花に透明感を出してみました。

The car body in the background was reflecting the sunlight strongly, so I used it to create a large round blur behind the flower.

The flower is a gerbera.

The petals are thick and the light does not penetrate through them easily.

I took advantage of the strong reflected light and sunlight, and corrected the exposure to a positive value to give the flowers a sense of transparency.

今日は朝から雨模様。

降り止みそうな気配がないので、簡易防水対策をして庭へでました。

咲きかけているひまわりの花をその葉越しに一枚。

沈みゆく巨星を表現してみました。

It didn't look like it was going to stop raining, so I went out to the garden with a simple waterproofing solution for my camera.

I took this picture of a sunflower that was about to bloom, looking over its leaves.

The image depicts a giant star that is sinking.

最近盛んに花をつけるようになったのがムラサキツユクサです。

庭に咲いているのは紫御殿という品種で、全体が紫色をしています。

手前に別の花を配置して、奥の花にピントを持っていきました。

花を撮るときは蕊にピントを合わせるのが基本です。

蕊が暈けているとなんとなく締まりのない画になるような気がします。

逆に、蕊にピントが来ていると他が暈けていても花らしく見えるから不思議です。

これもよく見ると蕊の先にしかピントが来ていませんね。

The Murasaki tsuyukusa has recently become a prolific bloomer.

The one blooming in my garden is a variety called Murasaki Goten, which is entirely purple.

I placed another flower in the foreground and brought the flower in the back into focus.

When photographing flowers, it is fundamental to focus on the stamens.

If the stamen is out of focus, the image will look somewhat blurred.

On the other hand, if the stamen is in focus, the image will look like a flower even if the rest of the flower is out of focus.

If you look closely, only the tips of the stamens are in focus.

葉の先端だけに木漏れ日が差していたものを一枚。

This is my usual houseplant (yucca).

午前中からお昼過ぎまでよく晴れて暑い一日になりました。

こういう日は朝早いうちに撮らないと、植物は元気がなくなります。

青は露出をマイナス補正しても、プラス補正しても綺麗な色になります。

青いアサガオをプラス補正で撮ってみました。

It was a hot day with clear skies from the morning until well past noon.

On days like this, if you don't take pictures early in the morning, the plants will lose their vigor.

Blue is a beautiful color whether you use negative or positive exposure compensation.

晴れると猛暑、朝から日差しが肌に痛いです。

この季節サザンカは若葉への切り替わり時期。

艶は少ないですが、若葉の緑が強い日差しに透けて綺麗です。

日差しを受けて光っている所を利用して一枚まとめてみました。

This is the time of year when sasanquas are changing over to young leaves.

They are less glossy, but the green of the young leaves is beautiful through the strong sunlight.

今日は台風の影響もあって朝から雨。

やむなく室内でモノ撮り、いつものレインボースティックで遊んでみました。

窓際でも光量が足りなかったので、LEDライトをマスキングテープでカメラに固定して撮影することに。

カメラは三脚にセットしてあります。

ピントリングが回せなくなりましたが、被写体側を前後させればいいので問題なし。

アマチュアは金を使わず楽しむのがよし、です。

It rained from this morning due to the typhoon.

I had no choice but to shoot things indoors and play with my usual rainbow stick.

Since there was not enough light even beside the window, I decided to take pictures by fixing the LED light to the camera with masking tape.

The camera is set on a tripod.

I couldn't turn the focus ring, but I could just move the subject side back and forth, so no problem.

Amateurs should enjoy themselves without spending money.

しばらく梅雨の戻りのような天候が続くようです。

ちょっとジメジメしていますが、猛暑よりは我慢できるかな？

最近観葉植物のユッカに蔓性の植物が巻き付いています。

雑草なので抜いてしまえばいいですが、その植物の緑が画作りに利用できそうでそのままにしています。

ということで、その緑を使って一枚。

It looks like the weather will be like the return of the rainy season for a while.

It is a bit gloomy, but I guess it is more bearable than the extremely hot summer.

Recently, a vine plant has been wrapping around my houseplant yucca.

It is a weed that I should pull out, but I have left it as it is because I think I can use the greenery of the plant in my paintings.

猛暑一転、豪雨の一日になりました。

暑さは一息つけましたが、極端な天候の変化はまさに温暖化の影響です。

小止みになった瞬間を突き、庭へ出てグラジオラスの葉に並んだ雫を一枚。

背景の黄色はアサガオの枯れ葉です。

The heat wave turned into a day of torrential rain.

The heat was a respite, but the extreme change in weather is truly an influence of global warming.

I took advantage of the brief respite and went out into the garden to take a shot of the drops lining the leaves of the gladiolus.

The yellow background is the dead leaves of the morning glory.

独り生えしたコスモスが盛んに花をつけるようになりました。

コスモスというと涼しい秋の象徴みたいな花ですが、ここ数日の猛暑にも平気なようです。

マクロ的には形の整った花より、枯れかけたものや形の崩れたもののほうが面白い。

逆光側からコスモスの花びらに迫り、光っているかのように表現してみました。

The cosmos, which has been growing all by itself, is now actively blooming.

Cosmos is a flower that symbolizes cool autumn, but it seems to be unaffected by the intense heat of the past few days.

In terms of macro photography, the wilted or misshapen flowers are more interesting than the well-shaped ones.

I approached the cosmos petals from the backlit side and tried to express them as if they were glowing.

蝉の初鳴きが聞こえました。

あまりに暑いせいか一声鳴いてあとは静かに。

昨年のブログで初蝉の声が登場するのは７月９日だったので一週間程早い初鳴きであったようです。

青と紫のアサガオが並んで咲いていたのを撮ってみました。

逆光側から撮ったので強い日差しを受けて輝いているようになりました。

ピントはアサガオの胴の部分。

ここの曲線がスッキリしていて好きです。

I heard the first sound of cicadas.

Perhaps it was because it was so hot, but after a single cry, the cicadas went quiet.

Last year, the first sound of cicadas appeared in my blog on July 9, so it was about a week early.

Blue and purple morning glories were blooming side by side.

I took this photo from the backlit side, so they seemed to shine in the strong sunlight.

The focus was on the body of the morning glory.

I like the clean curves here.
