　一脚を使いこなすポイントのひとつめは「自由雲台をつけること」です。

　三脚と違って、普通、一脚は雲台なしの単体で販売されています。このままでは、直接一脚にカメラを取り付けることになります。流し撮りとかスポーツ撮影等ではこれでもいいのですが、マクロ撮影には少々不向きです。

　そこで、一脚に自由雲台をつけるのです。カメラの動きの自由度を確保するのが狙いです。よく使われる雲台は３ウェイ雲台で、上下、左右、水平垂直の３軸を別々に独立して動かすことができます（同時に動かすためには腕が３本いります）。風景撮影等細かなアングルの調整に便利です。一方、自由雲台はこの３軸同時に自由に動かすことができる雲台です。

    The first point to master a monopod is to attach a free pan head.

    Unlike tripods, monopods are usually sold separately without a head. At this case, the camera will be attached directly to the monopod. This is fine for panning and sports photography, but it is a little unsuitable for macro photography.

    Therefore, a free pan head is attached to the monopod. The aim is to ensure the freedom of movement of the camera.  A commonly used pan head is a 3-way pan head, which can move the three axes vertically, horizontally, and horizontally and vertically independently (three arms are required to move them at the same time). It is convenient for fine angle adjustment such as landscape photography. On the other hand, the free platform is a platform that can be moved freely on these three axes at the same time.
