習作ーグラジオラス

- A study of Gladiolus -

　今日は朝から雨脚が強く外ので撮影は断念してテーブルフォトをすることに。この雨でグラジオラスの花が、自身に付いた雨粒の重さに耐えきれずに折れてしまったので、それを切ってきて題材としました。

　テーブルフォト用のミニスタジオセット等売っていますが、ここは簡便に、椅子の上に花を生けた花瓶を置き、椅子の背もたれに色画用紙で背景を作って、それを窓際に置いてセッティング完成です。光は窓から差し込む自然光を利用しました。日差しが強いときは北側の窓を使うと柔らかい光が利用できます。また、LEDライトやフラッシュを使う手もあります。ライティングだけで本一冊になるくらい色々な手法があり、詳しくは（私も知らないのですが--;)そういう本に譲ります。

　背景の色は黒だと締まりすぎるので、同系色の橙色の色画用紙を使いました。この辺り色々な色が安く手に入る色画用紙は便利です。花が開いている方向のスペースを空けるのがセオリーではありますが、ここは敢えてそちら側を詰めて憂鬱さ、緊張感を演出してみました。

　テーブルフォトでは色々な条件をコントロールすることができるので、手を変え品を変え試してみると面白いです。梅雨、コロナでどこにも出かけられない退屈な時間もあっという間に過ぎていきますよ。

    　It was raining hard from this morning, so I decided to give up on shooting outdoor and do table photography. The rain had broken a gladiolus flower that couldn't bear the weight of the raindrops on it, so I cut it and used it as my subject.

　There are mini-studio sets available for table photography, but I kept it simple and placed a vase of flowers on a chair, made a background with colored construction paper on the back of the chair, and placed it near the window to complete the setup. For light, I used the natural light coming in through the window. If the sunlight is strong, you can use a window on the north side to get soft light. You can also use LED lights or flash. There are so many ways to do this that a whole book could be written on lighting alone, and I'll leave the details to those books (I don't know them either).

　For the background, I used orange colored paper, which is the same color as the background, because black is too tight. Colored construction paper is very useful in this area, as it is available in a variety of colors at a reasonable price. The theory is to leave the space in the direction of the open flower, but here I tried to create a sense of melancholy and tension by filling in the space on that side.

　In table photography, you can control a variety of conditions, so it is interesting to experiment with different techniques and products. The rainy season and the boredom of not being able to go out anywhere due to corona will pass in a blink of an eye.
