- Being surrounded by the kindness -
This is a shot taken from a position where two flowers are lined up in front and behind each other, with the back flower in focus. The flower positioned in front does a good job.
For the sake of my own study, I would like to summarize the "use of light" once and for all. When I say "use light," the light source is the sun. We cannot change the position of the sun, so we have to move ourselves to change the direction of the sun.
First, let's start with "direct light".
This is the position where the sun, camera, and subject are in that order, as shown in the figure. In direct lighting, the shadows disappear and the picture is generally flat.
It is often used to take commemorative photos because the light spreads throughout the entire image. Pictures on postcards are usually taken in direct light. When taking memorial photos on a trip, you can check the position of the sun even if it is cloudy. However, the person being photographed will be dazzled, so instead of standing with your back completely to the sun, it is a good idea to shift slightly to the left or right.
I find it difficult to take pictures of subjects that let light pass through them, such as flowers, in direct light. The reason for this is that the colors become dull and the light is spread over the entire image, resulting in a picture that looks like an illustrated book.
