 今日のテーマ「逆光」で山茶花の花と葉を撮った一枚です。山茶花の葉はギザギザになっていますが、そのギザギザに反射した光をアクセントに配しました。

    This is a shot of a sansha flower and its leaves under today's theme of "backlighting". The leaves of this flower are jagged, and I used the light reflected from the jagged leaves as an accent.

　逆光とは、上図に示すように、被写体を日が差す方向とは逆の方向の光を言います。多くの物体は光を透過しないので、被写体が影になって暗く写ってしまうので、あまり、使わない光です。芸術的は表現には向いているかもしれません。ポートレートでは、フラッシュを焚いたり、レフ板を使って顔が暗くならないように光を補うことが多いようです。

    Backlighting refers to light in the opposite direction of the sun shining on the subject, as shown in the figure above. Backlighting is not often used because many objects do not transmit light, so the subject appears dark in the shadow. It may be more suitable for artistic expression. In portraits, flash or a reflector is often used to supplement the light so that the face is not photographed in dark.

　花や紅葉のように、光を透過するような被写体は、むしろ、逆光で撮ったほうが綺麗で輝くような発色が得られます。花を撮るときは逆光がお薦めです。

    For subjects that allow light to penetrate, such as flowers and autumn leaves, it is better to backlight them to obtain beautiful and brilliant colors. Backlighting is recommended when photographing flowers.
