　マクロ撮影に役立つツールとして以前一脚を紹介しました。今回は「中間リング」を取り上げたいと思います。中間リングはその名の通りレンズとカメラの間に入れて使います。テレコンバーターと違い光学系の仕組みは一切なく、ただの中空のリングです。接写リングやエクステンションチューブとも呼ばれます。中間リングをつけることで最短撮影距離を短くできその分撮影倍率が上がりより大きく写すことができます。マクロレンズの場合はもともと最短撮影距離が短いので、距離を短くすることよりも撮影倍率を上げられることのメリットが勝ります。虫眼鏡で小さなものを見る時、虫眼鏡を少し目から離して見たほうがより大きく見えるのと理屈は同じです。より小さな物を大きく写すことができるので肉眼では見ることのできないような世界を楽しむことができます。なお、中間リングをつけると無限遠はピントが合わなくなります。レンズにもよりますがピントが合うのは大凡２～３ｍ先くらいまで（Tamron 180mmマクロレンズ＋31mm中間リングの場合）です。

　さて、その中間リングを使った作例。フリージアは花芯が黄色でそこから真っ白な花弁が５枚、シューッと格好良く伸びています。その格好良さを表現してみたつもり。

    I have previously introduced monopods as a useful tool for macro photography. This article will focus on the "intermediate ring". As the name suggests, an intermediate ring is used between the lens and the camera. Unlike a teleconverter, there is no optical system at all, it is just a hollow ring. By attaching an intermediate ring, you can shorten the minimum focus distance, and thus increase the magnification to capture a larger image. In the case of macro lenses, the minimum focus distance is short, so the advantage of increasing the magnification is greater than that of shortening the distance. The logic is the same as when you look at a small object with a magnifying glass, it looks larger if you hold the magnifying glass slightly away from your eyes. The intermediate ring allows you to take a larger picture of a smaller object, so you can enjoy a world that you cannot see with the naked eye. Please note that when the intermediate ring is attached, the lens will not be able to focus at infinity. Depending on the lens, you can focus up to about 2 to 3 meters away (Tamron 180mm macro lens with 31mm intermediate ring).

    Now, here are some examples using the intermediate ring. The freesia has a yellow core with five pure white petals extending out from it in a cool way. I tried to express the coolness of it.
