There was strong sunlight today, so I used a 180mm macro with an extension tube. The advantage of the 180mm macro lens is that the distance at which maximum magnification can be obtained is longer than that of other macro lenses such as the 90mm macro lens. The 180mm macro lens is effective in situations where you cannot get close to the subject, such as birds, insects and other living creatures, or flowers blooming in a flowerbed or near water. The 180mm is also more useful for spider webs because if you get too close, you can catch a branch or touch a thread and break the web. Also, when you want to add vertigo in front of the subject, 180mm is more advantageous because it allows a longer distance between the subject and the camera. You may think that the closer you can get to the subject (shorter minimum focus distance), the larger the subject will be, but if the maximum magnification is the same, you will only be able to capture the same size. In other words, the size of the subject when taken at the minimum focus distance is the same for both 90mm and 180mm.
The disadvantages would be that it is heavy and the maximum aperture f-number is slightly dark. As cameras are becoming lighter and lighter due to the shift to mirrorless cameras, heavy lenses may not be popular. Although the 90mm lens has a wider range of coverage, the 180mm lens has its own merits, and I would like to see its revival.
