LICC 2020 Official Selection入選

 　昨夜メールにて、LICC(London International Creative Competition)から応募した作品「Movings」がOfficial Selectionに選ばれた旨連絡がありました。その記念のバッジです。バッジをクリックするとOfficial Selection発表のHPが開くはずです。

Official Selectionって何かと思いましたが、この上にFinalistというカテゴリーがあるので佳作相当というところでしょうか。まぁ、でもWorldwideでTOP100くらいには入った、ということなので嬉しいです。次はFinalistにくらいは残れるように頑張りたいと思います。

 「春が来た」

- Spring has come -

　今日は阿智村に来ています。平地ではもう見なくなった土筆が出ていたので、土筆をモチーフに春を表現してみました。露出はプラスに補正し、背景にたんぽぽの花の黄色と、雑草の葉の反射のボケを配置して春らしさを演出しました。

    　Today I am in Achi village. I saw some clay brushes, which are no longer seen in the plains, so I used them as a motif to express spring. I adjusted the exposure to positive and placed the yellow dandelion flowers and the blurred reflections of the weed leaves in the background to produce a spring-like atmosphere.

「スワン」

- swan -

　朝露の作品をもうひとつ。可笑しな形のチューリップの葉の先端に朝露がついて。花のボケを入れて画を演出してみました。なんとキャッチアイまで入っていました。

    　　Another work of art with morning dew. I found morning dew on the tip of a funny looking tulip leaf. I added some blur to the flower to create a picture. It even had a catch-eye.

「キラキラ星」

- twinkle stars -

　子供の頃からキラキラしたものが好きでした。ガラス玉、ガラス瓶、特に、割れたモノ、小石の中の雲母や石英の結晶、輝く水面、等など。キラキラするモノというよりキラキラそのものが好きでした。今朝は昨日から降り続いた雨が夜半には止み、日の出頃には晴れ渡って放射冷却によって霧が発生、大量の朝露がつきました。朝日に輝く朝露は大好物です^^

    　Ever since I was a child, I have been loving shiny things. Glass balls, glass bottles, especially broken ones, mica and quartz crystals in pebbles, shining water surfaces, and so on. Rather than glittering things, I liked glitter itself. This morning, the rain that had been falling since yesterday stopped halfway through the night, and by sunrise, the sky was clear and radiatively cooled, creating fog and a lot of morning dew. Morning dew shining in the morning sun is my favorite ^^.

 「花時雨」

- Flowering Rain -

　今日は一日雨みたいです。チューリップの花はワイングラスの形をしています。雨粒が集められて花の底にあたるところに雫が作られるようです。風が吹いたりするとすぐに落ちてしまうらしく、雫がついた花は根気よく探す必要があります。そこに隣のチューリップが写り込んでいるものは希少価値。

    　It looks like it's going to rain all day today. Tulip flowers look like wine glasses. It seems that raindrops collect and form drops where they hit the bottom of the flower. They seem to fall off easily when the wind blows, so you have to be patient to find the flowers with drops on them. The ones with neighboring tulips in them are rare and valuable.

「色変」

　チューリップの花も咲き揃い始めました。その色の変化を撮ってみました。花の色もさることながら葉の緑がきれいでした。

    　The tulips are starting to bloom. I took this photo to show the change in color. The color of the flowers as well as the green of the leaves was beautiful.

 「春炎」

- Fire of Spring -

　カタクリの花を撮りに行ってきました。ちょっとピークは過ぎていましたが一面の花を楽しむことができました。カタクリの花は日が当たると反り返るように咲きますが、それを炎に見立て花弁の根本に木漏れ日があたっている個体を選んで春の炎を演出してみました。

       　I went to take pictures of the katakuris flowers. It was a little past its peak, but I was able to enjoy the flowers all around. The flowers of the katakuris bloom as if they are warped when the sun hits them, and I tried to make them look like flames by choosing one that had the sun shining through the trees at the base of its petals to create a fire of spring.

「お～とっとぉ～」

　先日緑地公園で撮った写真の一枚に面白いものが撮れていたので投稿します。こういう動き回るものはひたすら連写で狙います。もちろんオートフォーカスでは動きに追従してくれないのでマニュアルフォーカスで頑張ります。

    　One of the photos I took at Green Park the other day was interesting, so I thought I'd post it. I take pictures of things that are moving around like this by shooting continuously. Of course, the autofocus doesn't follow the movement, so I try it hardly with manual focus.

「２つの曲線」

- two curves -

　チューリップの花の赤と、葉の特徴的な形を利用して抽象的な一枚を仕上げてみました。花の前ボケで余分なところを隠して曲線を単純化することで抽象度を上げています。

    　I used the red of the tulip flower and the distinctive shape of the leaf to create an abstract piece. I raised the level of abstraction by hiding the excess in the front bokeh of the flowers and simplifying the curves.

 「名残り雪」

- winter leaving -

　ユキヤナギが満開です。雪が低木に降り積もっている様をイメージしてまとめてみました。この花、肉厚なのか光を透過しません。逆光から狙うと影が目立ち美しくない。順光側から狙ってみました。

    The snow willow is in full bloom. I put them together to look like snow falling on a shrub. This flower does not allow light to penetrate, perhaps because of its thick flesh. When I tried to shoot them in backlighting, the shadows were not so beautiful. This was took from the forward light side.

 「春の光」

- spring scene -

　背景のボケに同じ黄色の花を使い、繊細な茎だけを写すことで、春の柔らかい光を表現してみました。この黄色い花はユリオプスデージーという南アフリカが原産の植物のようで、菊に似た花が咲きます。

    　I used the same yellow flower for the background bokeh and tried to express the soft light of spring by capturing only the delicate stems. This yellow flower seems to be a plant called Euryops daisy, which is native to South Africa and blooms similar to a chrysanthemum.

「あすなろう」

- Tomorrow -

　チューリップの葉の先端と蕾の色が同じなのが面白い。葉の先端と蕾を一直線上に配置してまとめてみました。花は葉が特殊な進化を遂げて出来上がったものなので、似ていたとしても不思議ではありません。

    　It is interesting that the tulip leaf tips and buds are the same color. I put them together by placing the leaf tips and buds in a straight line. Flowers are the result of a special evolution of leaves, so it is not surprising that they look alike.

「めざめ」

　チューリップが咲きました。ちょうど雌しべの先に日が差し込んできたタイミングを利用して一枚。花びらを前ボケにして柔らかさを演出してみました。

    　The tulips have bloomed. I took this shot just as the sun was shining on the tips of the pistils. I used the petals as a front bokeh to create a softness.

「曲線の形」

　チューリップの蕾も膨らんできました。後数日で花開くでしょうか。チューリップは花もいいですが、葉の形も独特で好きです。

    　The tulip buds have started to swell. Will they open in a few days? I like tulips for their flowers, but I also like them for their unique leaves.

「衝天」

- impulse -

　葉が丸みを帯びた木が椿、トゲトゲしている木は山茶花、なのですが、椿にもトゲトゲのある葉を見つけました。近くに椿の花が咲いていたので、その花のピンクと葉のトゲトゲを組み合わせて創造してみました。

    　The tree with rounded leaves is camellia, and the tree with spiny leaves is sambuca, but I found a camellia with spiny leaves as well. There was a camellia flower blooming nearby, so I combined the pink of the flower with the spiny leaves to create this image.

「はじらい」

- shyness -

　緑地公園へ行く途中の公園の木蓮が満開でした。木蓮はその優雅な曲線と花の根元がわずかに色づいているのが特徴です。また、花が大きいので本体は光を透過しません。そこで、順光側の斜光で花の曲線と色づきを狙ってみました。

    　The magnolias in the park on the way to Greenland Park were in full bloom. The magnolia flower is characterized by its graceful curves and the slight coloration at the base of the flower. Also, since the flowers are large, the body of the flower does not transmit light. So I tried to capture the curve of the flower and its coloration with slanted light on the forward-light side.

「春の朝」

- a morning in spring -

　八重咲きの水仙が一輪咲きました。黄色の花弁に橙色の花弁が囲まれる形で咲いています。その橙色をアクセントに春の朝らしい画にまとめてみました。薄曇りの天気で光が全体に周って良い発色を得ました。

    　One double-flowered daffodil has bloomed. The orange petals are surrounded by yellow petals. I used this orange color as an accent to create a spring morning image. The lightly cloudy weather allowed the light to circulate throughout the subject, resulting in good color.

「芽生え」

- seedling -

　牡丹の木の新芽を利用し、背景に緑のボケ、上部に円ボケを配置して、大地からの芽生えをイメージしてみました。後２ヶ月程で大ぶりの花を咲かせてくれるはずです。

    　I used the new buds of the peony tree, with a green bokeh in the background and a circular bokeh at the top, to create an image of buds sprouting from the earth. It should bloom into a large flower in about two months.

 「双子座の女（ひと）」

- twins -

　椿の花を横から狙った一枚。日陰に咲いていて周りから光が回り込んでくる影響で影のない絵ができました。手前にある花びらがボケてちょっとしたアクセントになりました。

    This is a shot of a camellia flower taken from the side. The camellia bloomed in the shade, so I was able to create a picture without shadows due to the influence of the light coming in from the surroundings. The petals in the foreground were blurred to create a slight accent.

「願い」

- praying -

　最後はこの水仙。大きさはニホンスイセンと同じくらいです。全体に白っぽく外側の花弁はあまり外へ反り返らない形で咲きます。水仙というとうつむき加減に咲くのですが、この水仙は花の密度が高いせいかあちこち向いて咲きます。ちょうど上を向いた花に朝日があたって輝いていたのでそれを主役に仕上げた一枚。

    　The last one is this daffodil. It is about the same size as the Japanese narcissus. The outer petals are white and do not bend outward much. Daffodils usually bloom in an upturned position, but this daffodil blooms in many different directions due to the high density of flowers. The morning sun was shining on the upturned flower, so I made it the main subject of this shot.

「光のゆりかご」

- The Cradle of Light -

　これも大柄な花の水仙です。色の配色はニホンスイセンと同じですが、ラッパの形が独特です。そのラッパの奥側にピントを合わせ、花すべてをボケであしらって一枚としました。大柄の花の場合、花の手前ではなく奥にピントを合わせると面白い絵になることが多いです。

    This is another daffodil with large flowers. The color scheme is the same as the Japanese narcissus, but the shape of the trumpet is unique. I focused on the back of the trumpet, and added a blur to the entire flower to create an image. In the case of large flowers, focusing on the back of the flower instead of the front often results in an interesting picture.

「頂」

- white peak -

　花の大きさが10cmにもなろうかという黄色一色の大きなラッパ水仙です。その黄色が逆光に輝いて綺麗です。先端が脱色して白くなっている花びらがあったので、それを活かした画作りとしました。

    　It is a large yellow daffodil with a flower size of about 10 cm. Its yellow color shines beautifully in the backlight. Some of the petals were bleached white at the tips, so I tried to make the most of them.

「君想う」

- thinking of you -

　新たに４種類程水仙が花開きました。これは小さなラッパ水仙。花の大きさは２～３cmくらい。逆光側に回り込めなかったので斜光側から影に気をつけての一枚。 前ボケを大胆に入れて花の小ささを演出してみました。

    　Four new daffodils have bloomed. This is a small trumpet daffodil. The size of the flower is about 2 to 3 cm. I couldn't get around the backlighting side, so I took this shot from the slanted side, taking care of the shadows. The blur was boldly added in the foreground to make the flower look smaller.

 「春告」

- Call spring -

　バイトで阿智村に来ています。バイト先の近くに福寿草が咲いていました。もうピークは過ぎたのかな？綺麗な個体が少なかったので周りの散りかけの花や新緑が綺麗な葉っぱをボケに使って春を演出してみました。

    　I'm in Achi village for part-time work. Near my place of work, I saw the Fukujuso (Japanese buttercup) in bloom. I wonder if the peak has already passed? There were not many beautiful ones, so I tried to create a spring atmosphere by using the scattered flowers and beautiful fresh green leaves around her as a bokeh.

 「細波」

- rippling -

　観葉植物の葉が光に輝いていたので、その輝き部分だけ切り取ってみました。室内にあって流石に手持ちではISO感度をいくら上げてもシャッタースピードを稼げなかったので三脚を使用。今使っているカメラは割と感度がいい（ISO感度を上げてもノイズが載りにくい）のですが、ISO1600までが限度。

    　The leaves of a houseplant were shining in the light, so I cropped out the shining part. It was indoors, so I used a tripod because I couldn't increase the shutter speed by hand no matter how much I raised the ISO sensitivity. The camera, using now,  has a relatively high sensitivity (it doesn't easily produce noise even when the ISO sensitivity is increased), but it is limited to ISO 1600.

「春」

- Spring is coming -

　遅咲きの八重の梅が咲きました。この花が咲くともう春はそこまで。主役の花がやや向かって右側を向いていることを考慮し、やや左寄りの配置に。右側は逆光に輝く枝でしょうか？そのボケがいい仕事をしてくれました。

    The late blooming double plum trees are now in flower. When these flowers bloom, spring is already around the corner. Considering that the main flower is facing slightly to the right, I placed it slightly to the left. On the right is a branch shining in the backlight. The bokeh did a good job.

「輝き」

　雨上がり、雲が切れて日差しが戻ってくる時は、格好のマクロ撮影日和となります。カーネーションの花が咲きました。母の日には随分早いですが。雨粒をたっぷり蓄えたカーネーションの花を逆光から捉えた一枚。

    After the rain, when the clouds part and the sun comes back, it's a great time for macro photography. The carnation flowers have bloomed. It's too early for Mother's Day. This is a shot of a carnation flower, under backlighting,  with plenty of raindrops on it.

「誕り」

　今日も雨模様の朝。椿の花の中に残った雫を、花びらとの位置関係を考えながらまとめてみました。光が柔らかい＝影ができないので綺麗な色がでました。

    　It's another rainy morning. I tried to photo the drop left in the camellia flower, considering their position in relation to the petals. Soft light = no shadows, so the colors came out crearly.

「雨上がり」

　朝は雨が降っていたのに、晴れてきました。雨上がり、雲間から一筋太陽の光が降り注いできた、というイメージを表現してみました。

    It was raining in the morning, but it has cleared up. I tried to express the image of a ray of sunshine pouring down from between the clouds after the rain.

　珍しく上向きの水仙の花があったので、背景に夕日に輝く水仙の葉をあしらって一枚としました。水仙もそろそろお終いです。

    　There was an unusual daffodil flower facing upward, so I added a daffodil leaf shining in the evening sun in the background. The daffodils are coming to an end.

「列伍」

　今日は朝から生暖かい雨。雨間をついて、チューリップの若葉にできた水玉をパチリ。チューリップは葉の形が面白いですね。

    It's been raining warmly since this morning. I took the photo of the polka dots on the young tulip leaves when the rain stopped. Tulips have interesting leaf shapes, don't they?

「春香」

- Fragrance of spring -

 開きかけた椿の花が葉の間から覗いていたのをパチリ。椿の艶のある葉のテカリを利用して柔らかな雰囲気を演出してみました。

     I snapped this photo of a camellia flower that is openning and peeking out from between the leaves. The shine of the camellia's glossy leaves are used to create a soft atmosphere.
