マスクツールの便利な使い方の一つに「焼き込み」があります。
「焼き込み」とはフィルムから印画紙に焼くときに使います。
印画紙は強く光があたるとより黒くなる性質を利用し、
部分的に焼く（＝光を当てる時間）時間を他より長くすることで
余分な光を消すことができる技術です。
焼き込みたいところだけ穴を空けたマスキング用のフィルムを用意し、
通常の焼きを行ったあと用意したマスキング用フィルムを
重ねてもう一度焼けば焼き込みができます。
原理は簡単ですが、焼き込む時間や焼き込みの境界が
目立たないようにする工夫など
職人技が求められる技術でした。
「焼き込み」をデジタル上で実現するのはとても簡単。
焼き込みたいところにマスクを設定し、そこの露光量を下げるだけ。
自然相手に写真を撮っていると、物を動かせない以上どうしても
フレーミングでは避けられず写り込んでしまうことがあります。
そういうときはこの「焼き込み」を使って、目立たなくする、あるいは、
消し込むことで写り込みを除去できます。
この作品も周囲の余分な光を焼き込みました。
