その手前に花のある形の良い蕾を探して一枚。

黄色の蕊が暈けに加わっていると、もう少し花の存在をイメージできて良かったかもしれない。

反省は次回以降に活かします。

I took this shot looking for a good shaped bud with a flower in front of it.

It would have been better if the yellow stamen had been added to the dizzying effect to give a little more of an image of the flower.

I will reflect on this next time.

コスモスの葉越しに花を一枚。

葉が作る暈けを、ソフトフォーカス的に使ってみました。

コスモスの葉は針金のように細いので、こういう芸当に使えます。

Cosmos leaves are thin like wires, so they can be used for this kind of trick.

彼岸花は近くの道路沿いに咲いていますが、ちょうど今がピークのようです。

雨の水滴狙いで行ったのですが、残念ながらもうありませんでした。

道路沿い、ということで風がよく通る（車もよく通る）ので、すぐなくなってしまったのでしょう。

薄日が差してきたのを利用して、特徴的な蕊にフォーカスしてみました。

The higanbana are blooming along the road nearby, and they are just now at their peak.

I went there to catch the raindrops, but unfortunately they were gone.

I guess they are gone soon because of the wind (and cars) along the road.

I took advantage of the light sun to focus on the characteristic stamen.

今日のお題はムラサキツユクサです。

少し今までと違う表現を試してみたくて、あえて、斜光サイドから撮ってみました。

斜光サイドから撮ると、物の表面の質感、テクスチャがはっきりでます。

少しムラサキツユクサの花びらの質感が強く出過ぎたようです。

Today's subject is the purple daffodil.

I wanted to try a slightly different expression, so I dared to photograph it from the oblique light side.

Shooting from the oblique side of the light clearly shows the texture of the surface of the object.

そろそろコスモスが花をつけ始めました。

昨年こぼれた種が、春には芽を出していたもので、ちょっとこのあたりでは早い開花です。

コスモスの花びらは薄く、光をよく通すことから、逆光側から狙うのが定石です。

透明感あふれる表情をみることができます。

The cosmos have begun to bloom.

Seeds that were spilled last year sprouted in the spring, so they are blooming a little early for this area.

Cosmos petals are thin and allow light to pass through them well, so it is a good idea to shoot from the backlit side.

久しぶりの山行き。

山といっても５００ｍくらいの低い山ですが。。。

結構アップダウンがきつく、先日の台風の大雨で登山道も水浸しでよく滑り、輪をかけてこの夏の運動不足が露呈してバテバテでした。

途中にあった蜘蛛の巣を使って一枚。

蜘蛛の糸は結構強く日差しを反射するので、露出はマイナスに大きく補正するのがポイント。

背景を暗く落とすことができ、蜘蛛の糸の光を浮き立たせやすくなります。

RAW現像でコントラスト、露出は微調整します。

It has been a while since I went to the mountains.

It was a low mountain, about 500 meters high, but....

The trail was flooded and slippery from the heavy rain of the typhoon that hit the area the other day, and I was exhausted from the lack of exercise this summer.

I took this picture using a spider web I found along the way.

Spider threads reflect the sunlight quite strongly, so the key is to correct the exposure to a large negative value.

This darkens the background and makes the light from the spider web stand out more easily.

Fine-tune the contrast and exposure in the RAW development.

今日は、台風一過の晴天になりました。

吹き返しの風が時折強く吹きましたが、彼岸花の花芽を撮る分には関係ありません。

彼岸花が咲く頃は、葉がなく、茎だけがニョキニョキと伸びているので、その茎だけを狙って撮るのもマクロ的にはありです。

茎の流れるラインと背景の丸暈けが作るリズムを感じながら、花芽を配置し、画にまとめてみました。

Today was the first clear day after the typhoon.

The wind blew back and forth strongly from time to time, but it did not matter for photographing the flower buds of higanbana.

When higanbana flowers are in bloom, there are no leaves, only the stems are growing, so photographing only the stems is also a good idea from a macro point of view.

I placed the flower buds and tried to create a picture while feeling the rhythm created by the flowing lines of the stems and the round vignetting in the background.

- Metropolitan -

連休のたびに台風、というのはどういうことなんでしょうね。
今日は朝から雨が強く、とても外で撮影、という状況ではありません。
ということで、今日の一枚は蔵出し。
2022年のEuropian Photography Awardsで、金賞を頂いた作品のうちの一枚です。
受賞作品は８枚のシリーズになっていて、こちらからご覧頂くことができます。
PLフィルターを通して撮影した氷を多深度合成したものです。
多深度合成とは、ピント位置をずらしながら撮影した複数（５～６枚くらい）の写真を、ピントがあっている部分だけを合成することです。
歪のない写真ならPhotoshopを使えば自動でできます。
でも、マクロレンズで近接撮影したものは、ピント位置によって大きく歪むので、手動でその歪を補正しながら合成する必要があります。
一枚作るのに、平均１時間くらいかかりました。
５０枚くらいこういう作品を作って、そのうちの８点を選んで応募しました。
入賞できたので少しは苦労が報われた感じです。

海外のフォトコンテストは、どこも応募時に数千円の費用がかかります（日本は無料のところがほとんど）。
細かくカテゴリー・サブカテゴリーに分かれていて（これも日本のフォトコンと違うところ）、一つの作品を複数のカテゴリー・サブカテゴリーに応募することも出来ます（その分、応募費用があがる）。
ひとつのカテゴリーは１０～１５くらいのサブカテゴリーに分かれています。
このサブカテゴリーの数が１００を超えるコンテストもあります。
また、締め切りより早く応募すると、応募費用が割安になるのも面白いシステムです。
一応、応募締切はあるのですが、よく、延長されます。
なんのための締切なのかよくわかりません。
ひょっとすると、目標とする応募数に達しない（お金が入ってこない）と締切延長するのかもしれません。
このEuropian Photography Awardsも６月が締め切りだったはずですが、最近まで、追加募集をしていましたｗ
その割にケチ？で、賞金はトップを取らないと出ません！
スポンサーがついてなさそうだから仕方がないのかもしれませんね。

マクロ的彼岸花の撮り方、その２、「重ねて撮る」

彼岸花はよく並んで咲いていることが多い花です。

前の花が後ろの花を隠すような位置から、手前の花は暈し、後ろの花にピントをあわせて撮ります。

彼岸花は、割りとゴチャゴチャしているので、そのゴチャゴチャ感を前の花の暈けで隠すような位置取りをするとうまくいきます。

How to photograph higanbana from a macro perspective, Part 2: "Overlapping"

Higanbana flowers often bloom side by side.

From a position where the flower in front hides the flower behind it, the flower in the foreground should be out of focus and the flower behind it should be in focus.

Since higanbana flowers are rather messy, it works well to position the flowers in the foreground in such a way as to hide the messiness with the vignetting of the flowers in the foreground.

とても暑い夏でしたが、台風が過ぎて一気にこの花の季節が巡ってきました。

すくっと立った茎の上に、真っ赤な大柄な花が咲くこの花は、マクロ的にはちょっと難しい。

どちらかというと、標準から広角レンズで、一面に広がる赤い花の絨毯を撮るほうが画にしやすいと思う。

見栄えもいいし。。。

この花は、日差しにキラキラ輝く長い蕊に特徴があります。

その蕊に蜘蛛の糸がついていたので、蕊の輝きを暈けに使いながら、秋の風を表現してみました。

It was a very hot summer, but now that the typhoon has passed, this flower's season has come all at once.

The large, bright red flowers blooming atop the slender stalks are a bit difficult to capture from a macro perspective.

I think it is better to use a standard or wide-angle lens to take pictures of the carpet of red flowers spreading all over the area.

It also looks better.

This flower is characterized by its long stamens that sparkle in the sunlight.

I used the sparkle of the stamens as a background to express the autumn wind.

昨日に続いて物撮りです。

ガラスの置物（白鳥？）を使いました。

ガラスの中に光が差し込んで来ているところを狙ったものですが、例によって、撮っている本人は全体は見えていないのでどこを撮ったのか正確には分かりません。

I used a glass figurine (swan?).

台風の強風圏に入った影響で、今日は朝から風が強い。

ということで、外での撮影は諦め、窓際の光を使っての物撮りにしました。

カメラは三脚にセットし、ピントはほぼ最短位置に固定。

左手に被写体を持ち、右手はシャッターボタンに置いて撮影。

被写体の位置、アングルを変えながら、ピンと来たところで連写します。

レインボースティックというおもちゃでイメージを撮ったときと同じ方法です。

これは赤いグラスを撮ったもの。

撮っている本人も、ファインダーを覗いていて、グラス全体を見ていないので、グラスのどこを撮ったのかはよくわかりません^^;

It was very windy this morning due to the typhoon entering the strong wind zone.

Therefore, I gave up taking pictures outside and decided to take pictures of things using the light near the window.

The camera was set on a tripod and the focus was fixed at almost the shortest position.

I held the subject in my left hand and placed my right hand on the shutter release button.

While changing the position and angle of the subject, I took a series of pictures at the exact spot where I felt the moment was right.

This is the same method used to take images with the Rainbow Stick toy.

This is a shot of a red glass.

The person taking the picture was also looking through the viewfinder and not looking at the entire glass, so it is not clear what part of the glass was photographed ^^;

今日は台風の影響で、不安定な天候。

撮影を始めたら、突然、スコールが。

こういう時に便利なガジェットが雨雲レーダーです。

今どの範囲で、どの程度雨が降っているのかがわかる。

雨雲の移動予測もあるので、雨はすぐ止むのか、しばらく降るのかもある程度わかります。

どうやらこのスコールは、１０分くらいで一旦止み、次の雨まで３０分くらいありそう。

というのがこのガジェットでわかるのです。

まぁ、予測はあくまで予測なので、外れることもありますが、今日は大体予測通りの天候になりました。

雨間に、雨の名残を探して一枚。

Today's weather was unstable due to the typhoon.

As I started shooting, suddenly there was a squall.

A gadget that comes in useful at times like this is the rain cloud radar.

You can see how much rain is falling and in what area.

It also predicts the movement of the rain clouds, so you can get some idea of whether the rain will stop soon or whether it will rain for a while.

Apparently, this squall will stop once in about 10 minutes, and there will be about 30 minutes until the next rain.

This gadget can tell you whether it will stop raining immediately or not.

Well, the forecast is only a forecast, so it can be incorrect, but today the weather was generally as predicted.

I took this picture looking for the remnants of the rain between the rains.

６月に蒔いたヒマワリ、ひとつだけ芽が出て、今、小さな花を咲かせています。

ヒマワリの花の特徴である黄色の花びらを使って造形してみました。

背後の暈けはガーベラの花です。

共に夏を代表する花です。

One sunflower that I sowed in June has sprouted and is now producing small flowers.

I used yellow petals, a characteristic of sunflower flowers, to create this sculpture.

The dizzying effect in the background is a gerbera flower. Both flowers are representative of summer.

今日のお題は（も？）、アサガオの蕾です。

手前にアサガオの花をおいて前暈けに使っています。

前暈けを置くことで、蕾の周りにある葉だったり、茎だったりを隠し、画を整理することが出来ます。

ゴチャゴチャ感をなくし、主題が目立つようにする訳です。

また、前暈けになるもの、この場合アサガオの花、に日差しがあたっていて、かつ、主題は日陰にあるような時は、光っているような前暈けを得ることができます。

主題が暗くならないように、露出はプラスに補正することをお忘れなく。

Today's subject is (also?) a morning glory bud.

I placed a morning glory flower in the foreground and used it as a foreground shade.

By placing the flower in the foreground, we can hide the leaves and stems around the bud and organize the picture.

This eliminates the sense of clutter and allows the subject matter to stand out.

When the subject is in the shade and the sun is shining on the object that will be in the foreground (in this case, the morning glory flower), it is possible to achieve a glowing foreground.

Don't forget to correct the exposure to a positive value so that the subject is not darkened.

- Tropical Colors -

アサガオと並んで、今、盛んに咲いているのはガーベラです。

いかにも夏らしい彩度の高い色をした花です。

肉厚な花びらをしていて、光が透けないので、マクロ的にはちょっと難しい花。

日差しに対して、真後ろではなく少し斜め後ろから、日差しの反射光を捉える位置から撮ってみました。

花の彩度の高さを活かすため、露出はプラス補正しています。

背景の緑が綺麗に撮れました。

Together with morning glories, gerberas are blooming prolifically right now.

These flowers have a very summery, saturated color.

They have thick petals that do not allow light to penetrate through, making them a bit difficult to photograph from a macro perspective.

I took this photo from a position that captures the reflected light of the sunlight, not directly behind the flower, but at a slight angle.

To take advantage of the flower's high color saturation, I used positive exposure compensation.

The greenery in the background came out beautifully.

今日は朝から暑く、観測史上、最も遅く猛暑日となる予報が出ていました。

結局、最高気温は３５℃を越えなかったようですが、あまりの暑さに外で撮影する気にならず、物撮りの日にしました。

カメラを三脚に固定、ピントも固定。

右手はシャッターボタン、左手にレインボースティックを持って動かし、ファインダー内に展開されるイメージを連写で撮影。

ピントはスティックを前後させながら調整します。

日陰で座りながら撮影できるので天気が悪いときなどおすすめです。

Today was hot from the morning, and the forecast was for the hottest day in recorded history.

In the end, the maximum temperature did not exceed 35°C. However, it was so hot that I did not feel like taking pictures outside, so I decided to have a day of shooting things.

Camera fixed on a tripod, focus also fixed.

The right hand held the shutter release button and the left hand held the rainbow stick and moved it around to take a series of pictures of the image unfolding in the viewfinder.

The focus is adjusted by moving the stick back and forth.

This is recommended when the weather is bad because you can take pictures while sitting in the shade.

季節が進んで、いつもの観葉植物に、いい光が差し込むようになりました。

太陽の光は、真上にあるより朝夕の斜めから差し込む光のほうが、使い易いです。

真上からの光は強すぎる、ということもありますが、影が下向きにできる関係上、撮影ポジションを変えてもあまり変わらないということもあります。

斜めからの光では、影は横向きにできるため、ポジションを変えることで影の見え方が大きく変わります。

多くの物は上向きに立っているので、影が長くなるという特徴もあります。

As the season progresses, the usual houseplants are getting some good light.

Sunlight coming in at an angle in the morning and evening is easier to use than light directly above.

Sometimes the light from directly above is too strong, but sometimes it does not make much difference even if you change the shooting position because the shadows are cast downward.

With oblique light, shadows are cast horizontally, so changing the position will greatly change the appearance of the shadows.

Many objects stand facing upward, which also makes the shadows longer.

花を撮っている時の楽しみのひとつは、突然、蝶や蜂などの虫が訪問してくれることです。

当然ながら、予告なくファインダーの中に飛び込んでくるので、瞬時に、花撮りモードから虫撮りモードに切り替える必要があります。

まず、ピント。

これは必ず虫の目に合わせます。

相手もじっとはしてくれていないので、ピントリングを回しながらシャッターを切る感覚です。

シャッタースピードとか、露出とかは調整している余裕はないので、その時勝負。

次に、フレーミング。

虫が主役のフレーミングを調整していきますが、クロップ前提で少し広めに撮っておくのがコツです。

One of the pleasures of photographing flowers is the sudden visit of butterflies, bees, and other insects.

Naturally, they will jump into the viewfinder without notice, so you must instantly switch from flower shooting mode to insect shooting mode.

First, focus.

First, focus on the insect's eyes.

The insect will not stay still, so it is like releasing the shutter while turning the focus ring.

There is no time to adjust the shutter speed or exposure, so the moment is critical.

Next, framing.

We will adjust the framing with the insects as the main subject, but the trick is to take a slightly wider shot with the assumption of cropping.

- Over the Rainbow Bridge -

雫はそのものより暈けのほうがマクロ映えするかも。

観葉植物の葉は、雫が綺麗な球形になるほど撥水がよくはないようで、平たいドーム状になるものが雫が多い。

そういう平たいものは、あまり見栄えがよくないし、写り込みも少ないです。

そこで、日差しがあたって光っているものを暈して使うほうがいいようです。

日差しが差し込む方向から撮ると、虹暈けと呼んでいる虹のようなカラフルな暈けが現れます。

虹が七色に輝くのと同じ原理です。

肉眼では、キラキラと色々な色に輝いて見えるので、そこを狙ってカメラを向ければ虹暈けが得られます。

The drops may look more macro than the drops themselves.

The leaves of houseplants do not seem to repel water well enough for the drops to form a nice spherical shape, and many drops are flat and dome-shaped.

Such flat ones don't look very good and are less photogenic.

Therefore, it seems that it is better to use a dizzying shot of something shining in the sunlight.

If you shoot from the direction of the sunlight, you will get a colorful rainbow-like effect, which we call rainbow blur.

This is the same principle as the rainbow's seven colors.

To the naked eye, the rainbow appears to sparkle in a variety of colors, so aiming the camera at that point will produce rainbow blur.

同じようなものが沢山あるときは、主役になりそうなものを一つだけ選び、その一つを中心に画を創ると印象的な画になります。

理屈はそうですが、なかなかうまくいかないのも現実。

こういう雫だと、

・形の良いもの

・大きすぎず小さすぎず

・まわりから孤立している

・光輝いているか写り込みが綺麗

これらの条件をすべて、あるいは殆どを満たしている個体を探し出せればうまくいくようです。

When there are many similar objects, it is best to choose one that is likely to be the main subject and create a picture around that one object to create an impressive picture.

Theoretically, this is true, but it is also a reality that it does not work very well.

With drops like these, you need

- A good shape.

- Not too big, not too small

- Isolated from its surroundings

- They should be shining or beautifully photographed.

If you can find an individual that meets all or most of these conditions, you will be successful.

台風一過の好天とはならず、蒸し暑い不安定な天気になりました。

風はないので、マクロ屋には好都合な天気。

夜のうちに降ったと思われる雨が、ムラサキツユクサの葉の上に残っていました。

そこで、日差しを待って、葉の上に残っている雫による丸暈けの配置と、主題となる花との位置関係を試行錯誤しながら一枚。

The weather did not turn out to be a beautiful day after the typhoon, but rather hot, humid, and unstable.

There was no wind, so the weather was favorable for macro photographers.

The rain that must have fallen during the night was still on the leaves of the daylily.

So, I waited for the sun to shine and took this shot, experimenting with the placement of the rounded vertigo caused by the remaining drops on the leaves and the positioning of the flower as the subject.

今日は、大型の台風が近づいて来ているせいで、朝から風が強い。

風はマクロ撮影の天敵。

風が強い時はさっさと撮影を諦めたほうが賢明かもしれません。

風が当たらない場所を探して撮影してみましたが、あまり満足の行く結果は得られませんでした。

まぁ、そういう日もある、ということで。

Today, due to a large typhoon approaching, it has been windy from this morning.

Wind is the natural enemy of macro photography.

When it is windy, it may be wise to give up shooting as soon as possible.

I tried to find a place where the wind did not blow, but I was not satisfied with the results.

Well, there are days like that, I guess.

日本語では真を写すと書いて「写真」ですが、英語ではphotograph。

photo「光」と、graph「図」の造語。

つまり、光で画を描く「光画」イメージです。

ついつい写真、そのままを写すことに気を取られますが、光画なので光に注意を払うことが一味違う写真を撮るポイントです。

また、光に着目するということは、影に着目することにも通じます。

被写体のどこに光があたり、どこが影になっているか。

その影が主題を引き立てるのに役立っているか、否か。

影がないと平面的な画になりがちです。

逆に、花の場合は、花の中に影が出来やすく、その影が邪魔になる場合が多いです。

マクロでも同じ。

どこに光があたっていて、どこが影になっているかを見ながら、イメージを膨らませていきます。

最近の気候は熱帯のそれに近くなった気がします。

突然のスコールのような雨、止むと降り注ぐ強い日差し、そして、蒸し暑さ。

雑草だと思いますが、小さく可愛い白い花を咲かせるので、抜かないでそのままにしてあります。

その草の間に雨が残り、強い日差しにキラキラしていたので一枚。

白トビを避けて、露出補正はなし。

朝の雰囲気を出すために、RAW現像時に露出をプラスにしました。

I feel as if the climate these days is closer to that of the tropics.

Sudden squalls of rain, strong sunshine when it stops, and sweltering heat.

I think it is a weed, but it produces small, pretty white flowers, so I have not pulled it out and left it as it is.

I took this picture because the rain remained between the weeds and they were glistening in the strong sunlight.

No exposure compensation was used to avoid white casts.

I added a positive exposure during RAW development to bring out the morning atmosphere.

- The Endless World -

観葉植物で、ちょっと抽象的な世界を表現してみました。

露出をマイナス補正すると明るい色がより明るく写ります。

さらに、RAW現像時にコントラストを上げることで、より際立たせることができます。

コントラストを上げると、ノイズが目立つようになるので、そこは注意が必要です。

I tried to express a slightly abstract world with houseplants.

Negative exposure compensation makes bright colors appear brighter.

In addition, increasing the contrast during RAW development will make them stand out more.

Note that increasing the contrast will make noise more noticeable.

- Phantasia -

いつもの観葉植物に雨の雫が残っていたので、朝の日差しを利用してちょっと幻想的な一枚に仕上げてみました。

この観葉植物、ユッカという名の植物ですが、全体は赤っぽい色をしています。

色温度のセンサーは、全体が赤っぽいのでそれが灰色になるように調整するようです。

青いところは肉眼では白っぽく見える部分です。

There were some rain drops left on my usual houseplants, so I took advantage of the morning sunlight to create a slightly fantastic picture.

This houseplant, named Yucca, has a reddish color throughout.

The color temperature sensor seems to adjust it so that it becomes gray because the whole thing is reddish.

The blue area is the part that looks whitish to the naked eye.

今日は台風と北に延びる前線の影響で、南から湿った温かい空気が入り込み、不安定は天候になりました。

突然、スコールのような雨が降り始めたかと思うと、雲間から夏の太陽が顔を出すという天気。

こういう時はシャッターチャンスです。

雫があちこちに出来、日差しに輝いています。

アルミの垣根が無愛想だからと、アサガオを蒔いてその蔓を垣根に這わせていますが、今、盛んに花をつけています。

そのアサガオのは花にも雫がいっぱい。

日差しを待って、カメラを構えていると、背後から「可愛いですね～」の声が。

ちょっと嬉しい朝でした。

Today's weather was unstable due to a typhoon and a frontal line extending to the north, bringing in moist, warm air from the south.

Suddenly, it began to rain like a squall, and then the summer sun appeared through the clouds.

This was a good time to snap a photo.

Drops of rain were forming here and there, glistening in the sunlight.

I sowed morning glories and let the vines crawl on the aluminum hedge because the hedge was unsightly, and now they are actively blooming.

The morning glories are full of drops on their flowers.

As I waited for the sunlight and set up my camera, I heard a voice behind me saying, "It's so pretty!"

It was a slightly happy morning.
