　早いものですね、もう２０２１年も１ヶ月が過ぎました。庭の水仙も咲き揃い始めました。でも、まだ半分くらい蕾が残っています。

「寒い朝」

　今朝は雪景色のスタートになりました。雪が積もったのは今シーズン初じゃないかな？

　皆さんご存知のように、雪のように白いものを撮るときは露出をプラスに補正します。デジタルの世界では、まっ黒を０から、まっ白が２５５という値で明るさを現します。カメラの露出計は、撮像素子上のいくつかの点でこの明るさを測りすべての測定点の明るさの値の平均が１１９になるように露出を決めています。明るさ１１９というのは１８％グレーと呼ばれ、黒と白の丁度中間の明るさの灰色です。

　雪の明るさが例えば２００くらいだとすると、これが１１９になるようにカメラは露出を決めてしまいます。つまり、白が灰色に写るということです。そこで、露出補正をプラスにするのですが、それは平均値が１１９ではなく２００になるように露出を決める、ということです。露出補正をいくつプラスにすると平均値をいくつに上げるのか、というのはちゃんと理屈があるのですが、難しいことは置いといて、デジタルの時代、撮影した画像はその場ですぐ確認できますから、雪が灰色になっていたら露出補正をプラスにしましょう。プラス値をいくつにするかは撮って見て好みの雪の色になるようにすればいいのです。

    As you all know, when shooting something white like snow, the exposure is corrected to a positive value. In the digital world, the brightness is expressed by a value of 0 for pure black and 255 for pure white. The exposure meter of the camera measures this brightness at several points on the image sensor and determines the exposure so that the average of the brightness values ​​of all the measurement points is 119. Brightness 119 is called 18% gray, which is a gray color that is just between black and white.

    If the brightness of the snow is about 200, for example, the camera will determine the exposure so that it will be 119. In other words, white appears gray. Therefore, we make the exposure compensation positive. It means that the exposure is decided so that the average value is 200 instead of 119. There is a good reason to decide how many positive exposure compensations should be used to raise the average value. Aside from the difficult things, in the digital age, you can check the captured image on the spot, so if the snow is gray, add exposure compensation. 

You can decide how many positive values ​​you want by taking a picture and making it the color of the snow you like.

 チューリップの芽がでました。芽の先がほんのり赤く色づいていてかわいいですね。チューリップは花も魅力的ですが、その葉の形も独特で、魅力的な被写体の一つです。まとめて植えられることが多い花なので、前ボケ、後ろボケに花を持ってきて、花を入れたり、葉を入れたりして楽しむことができます。色とりどりの花が咲き色の組み合わせを楽しむこともできます。

    Tulip buds came out.  The tips of the bud are slightly red and cute, aren't they?  Tulips have attractive flowers, and their leaf shape is also unique, making them one of the fascinating subjects of macro photography. Since the flowers are often planted together, you can enjoy to take pictures of the flowers and/or leaves, using the flowers as the front and back bokeh. You can also enjoy the combination of colorful flowers blooming.

　昨夜から降り始めた雨は夜明け前にはあがり、咲いたばかりの椿の花に水玉を残しました。朝日を受けて輝いていました。

　山茶花の花びらに先日の雨の名残。朝日にキラキラ輝いていました。マクロはピント合わせも大変ですが、手ブレを防ぐのも大切なポイントです。ピント位置や構図を確認しやすくなります。経験的に、シャッターを切る時は、息を止めるより少しずつ息を吐くほうがブレが少なくなります。また、肩の力は抜き、両手でレンズ・カメラを挟み込むように力を入れると安定するようです。

 「再生」

　今日で3日連続雨です。縮れていた枯れ葉が雨に濡れて元の姿を取り戻しました。2月に予約していた温泉旅館から、とりあえず2月いっぱい休業する旨連絡が来ました。3月には営業再開したい、とのことでしたが。この雨、ついでにコロナウィルスも洗い流してくれないかなぁ。

    It has been raining for the last three days today. The curly dead leaves got wet in the rain and regained their original appearance. The hot spring inn which I had reserved in February contacted me that the inn will be closed for the time being in February. They said that they would like to resume business in March. I wonder if this rain will wash away the coronavirus as well.

　今日は絞りを開放(F2.8)にして撮ってみました。ピントがあう場所は理論的には点というか面です。そこからカメラから見て前後に外れるにしたがって次第に像がボケていくのですが、ボケの大きさが例えば撮像素子のひとつの素子の大きさより小さければそのボケを記録することができません。つまりボケていない＝ピントがあっているように見える、ということです。このピントがあっているように見える範囲を被写界深度と言います。このレンズ（90mmマクロ）でF2.8の時、被写界深度は5mm程です。この写真は針の中心点にピントをあわせました。そこから前後合わせて5mm程の範囲がピントが合っているように見える、というわけです。

When the aperture value is F2.8 with this lens (90mm macro), , the depth of field is about 5mm. This photo focuses on the center point of the needle. 「城」

　今日の天気は朝からどんよりと曇り空。窓から差込む優しい光を使って物撮りしました。物撮りの基本はパンフォーカス（全部にピントがあっている状態）なので、F32まで絞り込んでます。F32でも被写界深度は６cmほどです（撮影距離＝５０cm、レンズ焦点距離＝９０mm）。１０cm程のフィギャーなのでなんとか全体にピントがあいます。ちなみに絞り開放(F2.8)では被写界深度は５mmしかありません。 ピント合わせが難しいはずですね。ちなみに、被写界深度はここで計算できます。

    Today's weather is cloudy from the morning.  I took pictures of a object using the gentle light coming in through the window. Since the basics of shooting objects are pan focus (the state where everything is in focus), I narrow the aperture down to F32. Even with F32, the depth of field is about 6 cm (shooting distance = 50 cm, lens focal length = 90 mm).  The subject is a figure of about 10 cm, so I managed to focus on the whole.  By the way, the depth of field is only 5mm at full aperture (F2.8). It should be difficult to focus.  The depth of field can be calculated here.

 「宿光」

　そろそろ良かろうと思い、先週に続いて段戸湖へ行ってきました。沢の雪も溶け氷の造形を撮るには良いコンディションでした。逆光に輝く氷がキラキラと綺麗でした。

    I thought it would be good, so I went to Lake Danto following last week. The snow melted in the stream and it was in good condition to take pictures of the ice. The ice shining against the sun was brilliantly beautiful.

朝日に綺麗に照らされた山茶花を一枚。ピントは定石通り花のシベに合わせました。花の前後に薄くボケを配置してマクロ撮影らしくしてみました。

    A photo of sasanqua that is beautifully illuminated by the morning sun. The focus was on the stamen of the flower according to the joseki (standard tactics).  I placed a thin bokeh before and after the flower to make it look like a macro shot.

 「風を探して」

　冷たい北西の風が吹きすさび、時折、風花が舞うなか恒例の緑地公園に行ってきました。外は寒くても温室の中では一息つけます。そこで見つけたのがこの蜘蛛。１ミリあるかないかくらの大きさです。観葉植物の葉先に止まって、糸でぶら下がったかと思うとすぐに登ってくる。ちょっと休憩？すると、また、糸でぶら下がる。そんな動作を繰り返していました。蜘蛛は糸とともに風に乗って移動すると聞いたことがあります。ひょっとすると良い風が吹いてくるのを待っていたのかもしれませんね。でも、ここは温室の中だぞ～

  転がっていた瓶を撮ってみました。窓から差し込んでくる日の光と瓶の位置を調整し、ファインダーを覗きながらなんとなくの形を造りました。ハイライトの部分が飛んでしまわないように露出補正をアンダーに持っていくのがポイントのひとつ。また、ピントをどこに持っていくかもポイントです。ピントは固定したまま、ファインダーを覗きながらカメラを前後左右に振りながら形を探ります。

    I took a picture of the bottle lying on the floor. I adjusted the position of the bottle and the sunlight coming in through the window, and made some shape while looking through the viewfinder. One of the points is to bring the exposure compensation underexposure so that the highlight part does not become overexposed. Another point is where to bring the focus. With the focus fixed, look through the viewfinder and swing the camera back and forth and left and right to explore the shape.

  今日も薄曇りの柔らかい光を活かして水仙を撮ってみました。何度撮っても難しいと思う被写体の一つです。

 薄曇りの柔らかい光（コントラストが強くない状態）を活かして山茶花の花を撮ってみました。今朝開いたばかりの花でしょうか？花びらが綺麗です。山茶花は沢山花をつけますが、メジロとか小鳥が花の蜜を求めて毎日やってきて花を食い荒らすので綺麗な個体は意外と少ないです。

    I took a picture of sasanqua flowers by taking advantage of the soft light of a little cloudiness (the contrast is not so strong). This is a flower that just opened this morning, isn't it? The petals are beautiful. Sasanqua flowers have many flowers, but there are surprisingly few beautiful ones because white-eyes and small birds come every day in search of nectar and devour the flowers.

 観葉植物を撮ってみました。葉っぱが逆光に輝いて面白い造形が現れました。逆光で撮る、というのはマクロ撮影のひとつのコツです。強く光を反射している部分を暈すことで表現が豊かになります。

    I took a picture of a foliage plant. The leaves were shining against the sun and interesting shape has appeared. Shooting against the sun is one of the tips for macro photography. The expression is enriched by blurring the part that strongly reflects light.

 今日も日頃の運動不足を補うため歩いて５０分程の緑地公園へ行ってきました。マクロ撮影の基本は「とにかくカメラを向けてみる」と紹介しましたが、今日もそれを実感しました。休憩に腰掛けたテーブルが鉄格子でできていて逆光に輝いている。マクロレンズで覗いたらどうなるかカメラを向けてみると面白いパターンがいくつも浮かび上がってきました。作品まで持ち上げるにはもう少し時間がかかりそうですが、また、面白い被写体を見つけられました。

    I went to Green Park for about 50 minutes on foot to make up for my lack of exercise.  I introduced the basics of macro photography as "just point the camera at it," and realized that today as well. When I sat for a break on the table, which is made of iron bars, I found it shining against the sun.  What happens when I look through a macro lens? When I point the camera at it, a number of interesting patterns emerge. It will take a little longer to get to the level of the work, but I also found an interesting subject.

 　氷の造形を撮るために段戸湖まで行ってきました。湖というより大きめの池ですが、ここに注ぐせせらぎに氷の造形が見られます。去年、一昨年と暖冬の影響で氷ができず。このところの冷え込みに期待していそいそとでかけました。まだ、せせらぎには雪が沢山残っていて氷を撮るには少々不向きでした。もう少し雪が溶けたほうが氷を撮るのには良さそうです。

　写真はせせらぎの近くの雪原にあったもの。形が面白かったので撮ってみました。マクロレンズの効果を十分に活かして背景を大きく暈しました。

Last year and two years ago, I couldn't see ice because of the warm winter. I went out in anticipation of the recent cold weather.     The photo is from a snowy field near the murmuring. The shape was interesting so I took a picture. The background is greatly blurred by making full use of the effect of the macro lens.

 今日はお昼前から雨になりました。雨間をついて名残の紅葉の小枝についた雫とそれに写り込む紅葉を撮ってみました。雫は、中に写りこみがある場合は、その写りこみにピントをあわせます。写りこみがない場合は、形の良い雫を選び、雫の表面にピントをあわせます。

    It started raining before noon today. After the rain, I took a picture of the drops on the twigs of the autumn leaves and the autumn leaves reflected in them. If there is a reflection in the drop, focus on the reflection. If there is no reflection, select a drop with a good shape and focus on the surface of the drop.

 今日は曇り空。手元にあったマウスを撮ってみました。ボケ味が魅力のマクロレンズですが、物撮りする時は絞り込むことが基本です。これはF32、レンズの最大絞りまで絞り込みました。ここまで絞ると撮影距離50cmくらいですが、さすがにボケはなくなりパンフォーカスの（全体にピントがあった）写真になります。

    It's a cloudy sky today. I took a picture of the mouse I had at hand. The macro lens has an attractive bokeh effect, but it is essential to narrow the aperture down when shooting objects. This is F32, narrowed down to the maximum aperture of this lens.  The shooting distance is about 50 cm, but the blur disappears and the photo becomes pan-focused (the whole is in focus).

 近くの公園に梅の花が咲いていました。

「梅一輪　一輪ほどの　暖かさ」

今朝も最低気温は氷点下を記録し、この冬一番の冷え込みとなりましたが、植物は春の訪れを早くも感じ取っているようです。

マクロ撮影の難しさはピント合わせにあるようです。よく「三脚を使いましょう」と言われますが、相手も動いている（風で揺れている）ので三脚を使っても狙ったところにピントを合わせることはできません。逆に、背景のボケとの位置関係を調整するのに、三脚は邪魔です。では、どうするか。連写して狙いの場所にピントがあっている写真を選ぶ。これが答えです^^。

フィルムカメラでは現像代が気になってできない芸当ですね。また、ミラーレスカメラだと撮影した瞬間にファインダーに映し出されるので、ピントが狙いの位置に来た写真が撮れたかどうかすぐ分かるようになって失敗が減りました。

It's one of famous Haiku ( Japanese short poem ).  The lowest temperature was below freezing this morning, making it the coldest record, but the plants seem to be already feeling the arrival of spring.

The difficulty of macro photography seems to be in focusing. People often say, "Let's use a tripod",  but the subject is also moving (swaying in the wind), so even if you use a tripod, you cannot focus on the target area. On the contrary, the tripod is an obstacle to adjust the positional relationship with the background blur. Then what should we do. Take continuous shots and select a photo that is in focus at the target location. This is the answer ^^.

It's a trick that we can't do with a film camera because we're worried about the development cost. Also, with a mirrorless camera, it is displayed in the viewfinder the moment I take a picture, so I can immediately see if I can take a picture that is in focus, reducing mistakes.

　今朝はこの冬初の氷点下になりました。朝日がさしてきたところで早速小鳥の水飲み場に張った氷を撮りました。氷はPLフィルターを通して撮影するとカラフルに発光します。氷が光るわけではなく、氷の表面で反射した光が波長によって偏光度が異なり、PLフィルターを通して見ると色がついて見えるようです。

    This morning it was below freezing for the first time this winter. When the morning sun came, I immediately took a picture of the ice on the small bird's drinking fountain. Ice glows colorfully when taken through a PL filter. The ice does not shine, and the light reflected on the surface of the ice has different degrees of polarization depending on the wavelength, and it seems that it looks colored when viewed through a PL filter.

  朝方はどんよりと曇り寒く暗いスタートでしたが、8時を過ぎて日が差してきたのでいつもの山茶花を撮ってみました。今回はアクセントに花びらを入れてみました。

  マクロ撮影時に気をつけたいポイントのひとつにシャッタースピードがあります。マクロ撮影は小さいものを大きく撮るため、手ブレしやすく、また、屋外では風による被写体のブレも普通のレンズでの撮影より大きく写ります。これらのブレを防ぐためシャッタースピードは1/1000秒を目安にします。なので曇りの日など光量が少ない時、日陰のところなど暗いところは苦手なレンズです。

    It was a cloudy, cold and dark start in the morning, but the sun was shining after 8 o'clock. So, I took a picture of the usual sasanqua flowers. At this time, petals are added as an accent.

    The shutter speed is one of the points to keep in mind when shooting with the macro lens. Macro photography is easy to shake because small objects are taken large, and the subject blur due to the wind, especially outdoors, is also larger than when shooting with a normal lens. To prevent these blurs, the shutter speed should be 1/1000 second. Therefore, it is not good for dark places such as shaded areas when the amount of light is low such as cloudy days.

　日頃の運動不足の解消を兼ねて歩いて一時間弱にある緑地公園に行ってきました。そこは年中花が植えられており、また、温室もあってマクロの被写体に事欠かない場所です。

　マクロ撮影のコツのひとつに「とにかくカメラを向ける」ということがあります。マクロレンズは肉眼では見逃してしまいそうな小さなものを撮し出すため、見た目とファインダーの中は大きく異ることが多いです。温室に植えてあったコルジリネという観葉植物にカメラを向けた途端ファインダーに飛び込んできたのがこの写真です。深い赤色の葉に蛍光色の赤の縦縞が特徴の植物ですが、その葉を横から撮ったものです。あいにく日が陰ってしまったので蛍光が今ひとつですが、また、次回挑戦してみたいモチーフです。

One of the tips for macro photography is to "point the camera anyway". As soon as I pointed the camera at the foliage plant called Cordilline that was planted in the greenhouse, this picture jumped into my viewfinder. The plant is characterized by deep red leaves and vertical stripes of fluorescent red. This picture was taken from the side of the leaf. Unfortunately, the sun is dark, so the fluorescence is not good enough, but it is a motif that I would like to try again next time.

 早咲きの水仙を撮ってみました。水仙の花言葉は「自己愛」。英語名は「Narcissus」です。うつむいて咲く姿が、水鏡に写った自分の姿に恋をして、水を飲むことも忘れやがてやせ細って死んでしまった「ナルキッソス」に似ていることから名付けられたと言われています。近くに咲いた二輪を前ボケに使ってナルキッソスの少し哀れな姿を表現してみました。

I took a picture of an early blooming daffodil. The flower language of daffodils is "self-love." The English name is "Narcissus". It is said that the name comes from the Greek mythology that the figure that blooms down is similar to "Narcissus", who fell in love with himself in the water mirror and forgot to drink water and eventually died thin. I tried to express a little pitiful figure of Narcissus by using the two flowers that bloomed nearby as the front bokeh.

山茶花と椿はともに冬の季節に咲く数少ない花です。共にツバキ科の植物なのでよく似ていますが、山茶花の葉はギザギザしている（椿の葉にはギザギザがない）ので見分けがつきます。このギザギザが日の光によくひかり、マクロで撮ると鮮やかで面白いボケ味を醸し出してくれます。

Both sasanqua and camellia are one of the few flowers that bloom in the winter season. Both are plants of the Theaceae family, so they are very similar. The leaves of sasanqua flowers are jagged (the leaves of camellia are not jagged), so they can be distinguished. This jaggedness shines well in the sunlight, and when taken with a macro lens, it creates a vivid and interesting bokeh.

マクロ撮影のいいところは撮影場所を選ばないこと。身の回りにあるものを被写体にアーティスティックに仕上げることができます。コロナ禍の巣ごもり生活にはピッタリです。テーブルの上にあるスプーンを撮ってみました。

The good thing about macro photography is that you can shoot anywhere. You can artistically finish the objects around you with the subject. It is perfect for a life in the nest of corona. The picture is the spoon on the table.

この年末は朝の冷え込みが強く、小鳥用に設けた水飲み場の水に氷が張ります。朝日に輝く氷の表面をマクロの大きなボケを活かして一枚撮ってみました。あまり氷らしくないですね^^;

明けましておめでとうございます

昨年は新型コロナウィルスが猛威をふるい、新しい生活様式を迫られた一年になりました。そのまま新しい年を迎えることになりましたが、ワクチンが効果を発揮しコロナ禍が終息していくことを願うばかりです。

初日の出に輝くナンテンの実を撮ってみました。ナンテンは難（＝災いや不幸）を転ずると読み縁起のよい植物とされています。今年はコロナ転じて福が来ますように。

A Happy New Year !

Last year was a year when the new coronavirus raged and forced a new lifestyle. We are entering a new year as it is, but I just hope that the vaccine will be effective and the corona illness will end.

The picture is  the nandina fruit shining at the first sunrise of the year. Nandina is considered to be an auspicious plant when it turns through difficulties (= disasters and misfortunes). May the corona turn and good fortune come this year.
